I think it would be good to more clearly distinguish who started a topic. They are more likely to want to discuss it.
Also, autocomplete against existing tags when adding new tags to a topic would help keep the tag cloud more dense (creating richer tags) while still allowing people to introduce diversity.

OpenID is the most promising way out of the password quagmire. And others (e.g., http://www.clickpass.com) are building on OpenID to provide a better user experience. I expect to see muh progress in this area over the next year.
While many large Internet properties are announcing support for OpenID, I expect that they are aiming to make themselves OpenID Providers (OPs) well before they make themselves Relaying Parties (RPs) in an effort to maintain "control.". I hope the enlightened few will prove me wrong on this point.
